I know it is not your question, but a lot of students seem to be asking what the value of a college education is (most studies put it at $1M but it varies by GPA and major and college significantly). You make me ask, "What's the value of fraternity membership?" There seems to have been a classic 1960s study along those lines. I'm curious if there are more recent studies.
But fraternity membership seems to have less to do with monetary values than with "values" and beliefs. That's the real "value" in fraternities.... What values and beliefs do fraternities reinforce? Are fraternities at odds with college culture, or no more at odds than the general culture of "undergraduate cynical"?
